The Ontario Brain Institute has been awarded a 5-year grant for the establishment of the [TRANSCENDENT Concussion Research program](https://www.transcendentconcussion.ca/). Led by Principal Investigator [Dr. Roger Zemek](https://www.uottawa.ca/brain/people/zemek-roger), a pediatric emergency physician and senior scientist at Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), the program will create a global center of excellence in concussion research aimed at transforming clinical care. Dr. Zemek and his colleagues at CHEO will collaborate with 12 partners across Canada and the US, including [Dr. Christina Master](https://www.chop.edu/doctors/master-christina-l) of [Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia](https://www.chop.edu/centers-programs/concussion-program). Together, they’ll create a concussion research database that tracks diagnosis, treatments, and recovery, using the latest tools to help identify the best treatment protocols by injury, concussion profile, age, and gender.
